What are the special enrollment qualifying events?

What can I do during OEP?
Beneficiaries can use the Medicare OEP to:
- Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another Medicare Advantage plan.
- Disenroll from a Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare, with or without a Part D drug plan.
Can I change drug plans during OEP?
If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can also change your Part D coverage during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP), which runs January 1 through March 31 each year. You make a change to your job-based drug coverage. You move out of your Part D plan’s service area.
Can you market during OEP?
You CANNOT target OEP as an opportunity to make further sales. You CANNOT contact former enrollees who selected a new plan during AEP. Who is eligible for OEP?
The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP) applies to: Beneficiaries who are enrolled in an MA plan as of January 1. These enrollees can use the January 1 to March 31 MA OEP to enroll in another MA plan or disenroll from their MA plan to return to Original Medicare.
